5 reminders for the soul in process

What’s up everyone?! Long time no talk! How is everything? What’s new? I hope you’ve been nothing less than amazing these past few months! Speaking of which, if I were to sum up my last couple months in one word, it would be “MESSY” cause your girl has been a hot mess – unfocused, undisciplined, drama drama drama, up and down then left and right, twisted-up-and-tied-in-a-knot kind of messy! I’m not complaining though. These few months have been so pivotal in my growth journey and I know God allows for me to go through things so that my overcoming cannot only inspire and help someone going through something similar, but also be proof to myself that I am capable of so much more than I think. I like to think of it as blog content as well; God puts me in situations, I get through it, and now I have something to write about. LOL! Thanks God, HIGH FIVE. Boom.

One of my favorite apps on my iPhone is the notes app. It’s like my little diary! The things kept in there are only between me and my God! LOL! I make notes and lists for almost everything, especially revelations I get from the Lord. I have a note titled, “Note To Self” on my phone where I put quotes that I see that inspire me to keep going, or words God places on my heart to remind me that I’m on the right track. Now it wouldn’t be a mishakanani blog post if I wasn’t super transparent with you, so I want to share my list in hopes that it encourages you!

1. Even and especially when it’s not going your way, God is still good!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you’re definitely not a stranger to this saying. One thing I’ve come to realize is that sometimes, because of human nature, there is your way but then there is God’s way. We may have our own plans, but God has His masterplan for your life. There are going to be situations that are out of your control and don’t go the way you want it. But just as Pastor Steven Furtick says, sometimes God’s rejection is just a redirection in your Faith journey. Trust the process and follow Him with faith because God has your best in store.

2. Don’t disregard the shallow end!

The other day, I went to the beach and I was admiring the shallow waters; how beautiful and peaceful it was. The way the light reflected off the crystal clear surface in such an artistic way producing the most breathtaking image. As I was standing there in the ocean, basking in God’s glory, looking out into the deep, God reminded me that the shallow end is simply the beginning. When used to symbolize a journey, the shallow end can be thought of as a fresh start and I was reminded of how crucial it is to have a strong foundation before diving into the deep end. Develop yourself in the shallow so you’ll be able to endure the deep. Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming.

3. Enjoy the journey of enhancing your internal so that it affects change of your external

You are on a journey to develop a character that matches your calling. Your life consists of a series of events that shape who you are and takes you to where God wants you to be. I believe we were all put on this earth to create change. Ron Puryear, a man who I look up to and am inspired by always says, “The best use of your life is to so live your life that the use of your life outlives your life.” Whether you impact one person or 1,000 people, God is going to use your life in a magnificent way. So never lose sight of the fact that you’re developing a character that matches your calling.

4. “Embrace your season of waiting. Take it as a moment to develop yourself. Settle your heart, my child, your time will come.”

Ahh, relationships… single life… some days are easier than others. I see so many people getting engaged, married or having kids. I have helped so many people with their relationship problems when I don’t even feel qualified being that I’ve never actually had a boyfriend. I’m actually going to write a blog post strictly on relationships so I won’t say much about it now. But what I will say is that it is worth the wait! Embrace your season of waiting. Don’t feel like you’re not good enough for someone. The opposite is true! God thinks so highly of you and He looks at you with so much value and worth and He wants the absolute best for you! Here you are maybe just wanting someone who will give you a star, but God is going to give you someone who will give you an entire galaxy! Don’t settle for anything less than God’s best. I am a single pringle who doesn’t want to mingle with just any guy because I have high standards and high faith in my God and I know that whoever I’m meant to be with will find me once I find myself. So… Dear future husband, I can’t wait to meet you. Continue to grow yourself and fall in love with God and I promise I’ll do the same.

5. Let the voice in your heart be louder than the lies in your head.

All my over-thinkers in the house say HEYYYYYY! Lol! Jk. But seriously, if you’re like me, you think a lot. I use to become so vulnerable if I was too much in my head. By overthinking everything, I began to become anxious and worried and fearful, ultimately allowing for the enemy to grab hold of my mind. But God’s word states, “We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed one,” (2 Corinthians 10:5 TPT). I was always taught that when you read God’s word, recognizing His voice becomes easier. Listen to the still small voice in your heart and continue to make it speak louder than any lies that fill your head!
